About Janes IslandKayak with us at Janes Island to celebrate the coming of fall, and a fantastic summer. Janes Island is located on the eastern Chesapeake shore and is one of the acclaimed places to paddle in the Chesapeake Bay. The island is preserved by Maryland State Park and offers 2,600 acres wet salt marsh, beach and high land with intricate water trails through out the island that make for a tranquil kayak adventure with plenty of opportunities to sight various aquatic and bird life.
Janes Island sits with in the borders of Crisfield, once inhabited by the Pocomoke and Annemessex Indian tribes of the Algonquin Nation. Crisfield once boasted as the ‘Seafood Capital of the World’ as the railroad enabled the seafood and crab to be shipped all over the United States. Crisfield is still known for their famous Chesapeake blue crab.
